YOUR STYLE, YOUR SUPERPOWER
Last week’s Royal Wedding left me feeling quite inspired. After seeing both Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton’s stunning outfits, a light bulb went off over my head: Carrie’s Chronicles needs to do a royal fashion face off! Check out the five battles between both Duchess Meghan and Duchess Kate that I put together below and feel free to leave a comment with your own opinion.
Face off #1:
Although both ladies’ wedding dresses were exquisite, I have to let Kate take the win on this one. Her look, by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, complete with long lace sleeves and v-neckline, has earned a spot in the fashion history books. The Victorian-inspired ivory satin bodice, which was padded at the hips and narrowed at the waist, hugged Kate's figure in all the right ways. In contrast, Meghan’s gown by Givenchy designer Clare Waight Keller was a bit too simple, and the tailoring on her sleeves could have been more form-fitting.
face off #2:
Meghan's Stella McCartney halter gown reigns victorious when it comes to this battle.
Her reception dress was simple yet elegant, as if it came straight off the runway. The Alexander McQueen frock that Kate chose to wear post-wedding, however, was notably conservative.
The box-pleated ball skirt and sweetheart neckline looked a bit dated, and her cropped cardigan was excessively demure.
Face off #3:
Although Kate's Jojo Maman Bebe coat that she wore to visit the set of popular show Downtown Abbey is classic and chic, the belted element of Meghan's takes it to the next level. Meghan's modern wrap coat from Line the Label--which she wore out for her first public appearance with Prince Harry--sold out on the brand's website within minutes of her photo breaking the internet! The newest Duchess is the clear winner of this battle.
face off #4:
Maybe it's only because she has ten years of experience, but Kate Middleton sure knows how to rock a suit. Her tweed Rebecca Taylor ensemble she sported during a visit to Ronald McDonald House looks like she walked straight out of the pages of a Chanel ad in Vogue. Meghan, unfortunately, missed the mark(le) in this tailored Alexander Mcqueen trouser suit she wore to the Endeavour Fund Awards ceremony in London. The capri length of her pants seemed a bit casual, and overall, her ensemble seemed more lawyer-like than fit for a royal.
face off #5:
To be honest, I love both of these looks. Kate's dress--which she wore to a garden party in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s 91st birthday in Berlin--looks like she's ready to make the ultimate style statement at a beachside party. Meghan's outfit that she wore to a Today Show appearance, on the other hand, is channeling West Side Story vibes in the best way possible. Although this was a close one, I have to give it to Meghan. Her Jill Stuart dress proved that she is an absolute power woman who is not afraid to steal the show. Kate's Gosia Baczynska maxi paired with beachy sandals seemed laid-back in comparison.

Carrie: Hi, Elle! I’m so excited to be able to interview you! You were one of my inspirations when I was first starting my blog. When did you start your blog and why did you decide to start it?
Elle: I started my blog Mademoiselle three years ago after I was inspired by a blogger “Kayleigh’s Kloset” who I met in New York City. I had always wanted to start one but meeting her gave me the confidence and creative perspective to start it.
Carrie: Almost like how you inspired me with my blog! What message are you trying to convey to your blog’s subscribers?
Elle: I want my followers to be confident in their style! No matter what they wear or what the label says, they should purchase clothing that they love! What you wear can make you feel a certain way, so dressing confidently is so important. I also want to inspire my readers to design a life and career they love, so I advocate a company that does just that: My Social Canvas!
Carrie: How would you describe your personal style?
Elle: My personal style is feminine, chic, and edgy. I love black and white with accents of color. I also love pairing basics with a trendy piece to elevate my outfit!
Carrie: Is there a current style staple piece or trend that you think everyone should embrace?
Elle: My current favorite style staple is a nice bag that can elevate every outfit. My favorite trendy piece is a fur jacket--they make every outfit chic and so warm!
Carrie: OMG, I’ve been so into fur lately, too. Now when it comes to beauty, what is your number one product recommendation?
Elle: A moisturizer that’s perfect for your skin type! If your skin is too dry or too oily, you begin to get blemishes and your makeup will not apply properly. I recommend asking a specialist at your local skin care store.
Carrie: Any future plans for your blog?
Elle: I am moving to New York City soon to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology! When I get there, I plan on blogging more about my experience living there. I also want to interview men and women that inspire me so I can share their wisdom with my followers!
Carrie: Well, you certainly had a ton of wisdom to offer to my followers! Thanks, Elle! I know that you have a bright future laying ahead of you in NYC.

Carrie: Hi, girls! I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules to talk to me! How did you get your start in the modeling and TV/film industries?
Anais and Mirabelle: Pretty much by luck. We were in the park one day with our babysitter and a photographer came up to her and said that we were beautiful. He gave his card to her and said that he wanted to do a photoshoot with us for the children’s clothing company Llum. A few weeks later, my mom reached out to the photographer and we did our first photo shoot! We loved modeling so much, our mom sent some of the photos to New York modeling agencies and we got a response right away! After modeling for a year or two, we started auditioning for commercials, television shows, and movies. We landed a role in our first movie, Blood Ties, when we were only 5 years old!
Carrie: That’s incredible! How do people tell you two apart when they meet you, since you’re identical twins?
Anais and Mirabelle: We honestly have no idea how to tell us apart! We think we look different but don’t really know how to tell us apart. We’re basically the same person because we have the same DNA and fingerprints, but our personalities are different.
Carrie: And you both have had a ton of success in such a short amount of time! What have been some of the highlights of your careers so far?
Anais and Mirabelle: One of the biggest highlights of our career has been filming Nickelodeon’s Lip Sync Battle Shorties, filming Blood Ties, and walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. It was amazing being in last year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade dancing on the Sesame Street float with Hamilton star, Leslie Odom, Jr, as well. There have been so many amazing experiences from our career that we can’t even count! But filming the show Lip Sync Battle Shorties was definitely a dream come true! We met so many amazing people, got a super cool dressing room, and had the chance to perform on Nickelodeon!
Carrie: That all sounds so thrilling! Who are some of the coolest celebs you girls have worked with on set?
Anais and Mirabelle: Zoe Saldana, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mila Kunis, Billy Crudup, Kevin Bacon, and a lot more! All of them were super nice to us and made being on set a lot of fun. When we were filming Blood Ties, Zoe acted like our mom!
Carrie: Aww! I know that you girls love acting, but sometimes it can be pretty difficult. In your opinion what’s the hardest part of being an actress?
Anais and Mirabelle: The hardest part is competing against each other or actor friends we’ve known for years. You never want to hurt their feelings if you get the part and they don’t, or if they get the part and we don’t. But we support each other and we’re proud of our friends’ success as well as each other. The second hardest thing is memorizing scripts. Sometimes our agent gives us four-page scripts to learn for the following day!
Carrie: As an actress myself, I know how grueling that can be! And what about modeling--what do you girls think is the best and hardest part of modeling?
Anais and Mirabelle: The hardest part of being a model is juggling school and being on set. The best part is meeting other models and becoming friends with them!
Carrie: So sweet. Now, since I love fashion, I wanted to ask you how you describe your personal style. Do you dress similarly or different from one another?
Anais and Mirabelle: Our style is exactly alike! We both love to wear trendy and sporty clothes. Some of our fave pieces to wear are ripped jeans, crop tops, cute sweatshirts, and chokers!
Carrie: So cute! I love a good sporty chic outfit. What’s your spring closet staple?
Anais and Mirabelle: Definitely a jean jacket and a Zella Girl hoodie. We also couldn’t live without our tops or pants from Me.n.u.. Oh, and we love the glam tracksuits from Rich Girl Candy. Lastly, we can’t go wrong wearing cool Nike and Converse outfits from Rookie USA and Adidas sneakers.
Carrie: It sounds like you have the ultimate wardrobe! Do you both like makeup, too?
Anais and Mirabelle: We love wearing makeup! Sometimes when our friends are over, we have a competition for who can do the best makeup!
Carrie: What are some of your favorite products?
Anais and Mirabelle: Some of our favorite products are the Milk Makeup Cooling Water Stick, Kylie Cosmetics’ Bronze Palette, Becca highlighter, and Kylie Cosmetics lipsticks.
Carrie: OMG, I am obsessed with the Kylie lip-kits!
Anais and Mirabelle: We love Dolce K, Candy K, and Koko K…
Carrie: Same! Okay, I have one final question. What are your future plans? I know you both have accomplished so much already but I’m sure that neither of you are slowing down anytime soon.
Anais and Mirabelle: We’re hoping that we can get our own show or a series-regular role on a TV show--that’s our dream! We’re definitely working on it and putting things in motion!
Carrie: How exciting! I’ll definitely look out for that. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this interview, girls!

The annual Met Gala in New York City has truly evolved into a fashion carnival. Prior to viewing the new exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, celebrities line up to have their pictures taken on the grand staircase wearing some of the most incredible statement pieces of the year. It has become a tradition for popular designers and clothing brands to dress the stars according to the theme of the installation. This year’s guideline was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, and guests were told to dress in their “Sunday Best.” The Met and the Vatican worked together for more than a year to gather more than 40 items for the installation, and curator Andrew Bolton was even given access to the hidden chambers where nuns look after the Pope's clothes. Celebrities who attended drew inspiration from the vast history of Catholic art and channeled it into outfits that included Nativity headpieces, jewelry adorned with crosses, and even a huge pair of angel wings. Although yesterday’s event was filled with astonishing couple announcements and wow-worthy haircut debuts, I decided to highlight the clear star of the show: the fashion. Below you will find my top 10 favorite looks from the memorable evening that will leave you having the chicest of dreams.
1. Blake Lively
2. Katy Perry
3. Kim Kardashian
4. Sarah Jessica Parker
Considering her Catholic upbringing, it was obvious that Madonna was going to bring something extraordinary to the table for last night's event. She did not disappoint, making a shocking statement in a Gothic-church inspired black dress by Jean Paul Gaultier. She accessorized the look with a crucifix dotted crown, a net veil, multiple cross necklaces, and a bouquet of black roses.
7. Bella Hadid
The model is giving off major Darth Vader vibes...in the best way possible! She looked absolutely wow-worthy in an all black outfit by Chrome Hearts. The ensemble featured a patent leather bustier top, exaggerated shoulders, and a black and gold veil that trailed behind her as she made her way up the steps of the Met. Fingerless gloves, a gold cross necklace, braided hair, and simplistic makeup completed the look.
8. Jennifer Lopez
9. Ariana Grande
As soon as the singer teased her fabric on social media the day of the event, it was undeniable that her outfit was going to be a showstopper. She turned heads in a Vera Wang ball gown highlighting Michelangelo's The Last Judgement" painting from the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. The gold veil that she tied into a bow should also be acknowledged--so chic!
All hail Queen Ri! The "Diamonds" singer dazzled onlookers in a Margiela corset mini dress with a long, silver, bejeweled skirt that trailed behind her. Along with a pearl anklet and crucifix necklace, she topped of the look with a sparkling headpiece inspired by a Bishop's hat. Who knew that papal fashion could look so divine?
As you enter the cafe, the first thing you see is an LED lit face in profile with “Chill” spelled out on the brain. You are given the choice to either enjoy an “upper” or a “downer.” The uppers include delicious coffee or a matcha latte while the downers are made with ingredients to help you unwind right before you indulge in a beauty service. Drinks with kava or valerian root especially put you at ease.
Once you finish your refreshments, you enter the back room, also known as the nail salon. There is a great variety of nail polishes that you can select from, including colors from high-quality brands such as Deborah Lippmann and CND Shellac. Once you take your pick, you perch yourself at the ten-seat marble bar and pick a style from Chillhouse’s wide selection of Instagram-worthy nail art. There is the “California Hard-Edge,” inspired by pop-art; the “Incognito,” which creates a camo effect; the “Discoteca,” influenced by 70s print; and many more.
The massage facilities will certainly help you get your “chill” on. There is a selection of six different types of massages (all fabulous in their own way) that cater to your needs. The “Focus” is a 25-minute bed massage that focuses on only one area--you get to choose which zone and the level of intensity. The “Chill Pill” massage, on the other hand, lasts either 50 or 80 minutes and contains longer strokes that lure you to sleep. You can also add on extras such as aromatherapy or heat packs to your treatment if you feel inclined.
Chillhouse is Manhattan’s newest destination for bloggers; in other words, visit ASAP! My personal experience at this multi-purpose space was so refreshing, and allowed me to leave feeling both rejuvenated and beautiful...oh, and totally #chill.
Carrie: Hi, Sam and Tink! I’m so excited to find out more about the exciting world that surrounds Tinkerbelle! So how did this little cutie rise to fame?
Sam: Everything has been happening organically. She started at a shelter, where I adopted her. One day, I was walking her around the city and an animal agent saw me and asked if she could work with her. Tinkerbelle’s first booking was with Ralph Lauren, where she ended up being the face of the campaign. It went uphill from there! On her fourth job, the stylist made her an account on Instagram which really helped her career. She got partnerships and sponsors...it’s just been amazing. It’s been a consistent climb but I think if she was not stopped initially by an agent, none of this would be happening.
Carrie: Wow, what an exciting journey! It was destiny how you two met each other. Did you have to undergo any training with Tinkerbelle once she became a public figure?
Sam: She's had no training--just me talking to her. When the agent asked me who trained her and I said that I did, she was shocked. Tink is my first animal! For some reason, when I just talk to her, she cooperates and does what she needs to do!
Carrie: Magic puppy! Haha. What do you think makes her so special?
Sam: She's a Papitese (Papillon-Maltese) and there are no other Papitese that exist. Because of the odd mix, her coloring and her ears are unique. Also her attentiveness, cooperativeness, patience, politeness...there are so many words to describe her!
Carrie: I love seeing all of Tinkerbelle’s special features displayed on social media. What do you think is the most important thing to remember when managing Tink’s Instagram?
Sam: Don't miss a post. I have to post daily. Also, hashtag, hashtag, hashtag! I also make sure that the photo is very crisp, clean, bright, and shows her personality. Then, I have Tink’s social media manager Gina come up with amazing captions!
Carrie: Do you find pictures or videos to be more effective in capturing her fans’ attention on social media?
Sam: I think both are effective but her photos are definitely more popular. I don't think there's a rhyme or reason to it, though--it's just all luck and a gamble. Sometimes the picture I think is terrible or the worst quality turns out to be the most popular!
Carrie: That’s so funny! Now as a style blogger, I have to ask some questions about that. How has Tinkerbelle made her mark in the fashion industry?
Sam: A lot of her clothes are made for her or given to her and I always tag the company. A lot of her followers actually end up purchasing the clothing, based on how it looks on Tinkerbelle and things like that. Also, walking in New York Fashion Week is definitely Tink's highlight of her career in the fashion industry. She just loves clothing, hanging out with the models, and being the only dog in the shows. She's has a very diva couture attitude, which works for New York Fashion Week.
Carrie: What are some of the best outfits that Tinkerbelle has worn?
Sam: A diva leather jacket is definitely one of her most memorable. That was a special order made for her from Wag Wear. Also, her black turtleneck cashmere sweater from Ralph Lauren looks really nice and chic on her. As for accessories, she loves her black and white collar, which she also has in blue and white, with a big bow on it. I usually bring it everywhere because it’s just very diva and very her. Everyone loves that collar on her. She even wore it in Italy!
Carrie: Honestly, Tink would look chic and adorable wearing a garbage bag! Haha. Next question: what are some of the best events that she has attended?
Sam: She went to Betsey Johnson’s last fashion week show ever. It was the most unbelievable experience to have Tink backstage the whole time, in Betsey’s arms for her last show. She also went to a private book release party for Teresa Giudice, one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. It was a very small, private, and intimate event. All housewives and Tinkerbelle. Funny story: there are photos of Tinkerbelle with Dorinda, one of the Real Housewives, at that event with the caption “Dorinda brought her pup Tinkerbelle to the party.” I guess it’s alright because Tinkerbelle’s name was in there. She’s not Dorinda’s but it’s okay.
Carrie: OMG! Any other funny Real Housewives stories to share?
Sam: Tinkerbelle did a Febreeze job with Bethenny Frankel. Every time Bethenney saw the cameras coming and Tink wasn’t in her arms, she started screaming, "Tinkerbelle! Where's Tinkerbelle? Bring Tinkerbelle to me!” That was fun.
Carrie: Who are some of the most memorable celebrities that Tinkerbelle has met?
Sam: Oh, that’s really hard. Probably Lin-Manuel Miranda from Hamilton. There’s this famous photo of them kissing each other that’s all over the internet. Every day, if you type in Tinkerbelle’s name on Google, it pops up. But like I said before, terrible quality! It’s so random. That photo has more views than I think any other pics he’s done or Tinkerbelle has done.
Carrie: That’s crazy!
Sam: She also met Whoopi Goldberg once during New York Fashion Week, which was really fun. (Tinkerbelle crawls into Sam’s lap to lay down).
Carrie: Aw, little one wants to go sleep!
Sam: (starts to rub Tinkerbelle’s fur) Tinky, who else have we met? Oh, she liked working with Scott Foley a lot for a Swiffer job. She also just worked with Maksim Chmerkovskiy from Dancing with the Stars on a gig for that same company. The two of them were dancing together! Lastly, Misty Copeland was amazing when Tink and I met her. Just so nice and wonderful.
Carrie: Sounds like Tink is the luckiest dog on the planet! What are her future plans?
Sam: To keep working. She aspires to be on Broadway, maybe have her own sitcom, meet more celebrities, and keep making friends.
Carrie: Well, I will definitely be following her rise to stardom! Thanks so much again for taking the time to talk with me, Sam. (Tinkerbelle’s eyes finally start to close) Good night, Tinky!
