J.Lo Announced as the Face of Coach's Latest Campaign

Fifty-year-old superstar Jennifer Lopez is unstoppable in today’s entertainment industry, hence why she was recently announced as the new face of luxury brand Coach’s spring collection. The line, unveiled on January 21, is titled “Originals Go Their Own Way,” celebrating “individuality, optimism…self-expression,” and “the energy of NYC,” as told by the brand.

The collaboration has been a long time coming, as Lopez has been carrying Coach bags since her 2002 music video for “All I Have” with LL Cool J. Nonetheless, Coach has been keeping its customers waiting for months now: in mid-November, both Lopez and the brand posted a black-and-white teaser photo of the actress in a belted trench coat and scarf captioned “#JLo is the new face of Coach. More to come in 2020 #CoachxJLo.”

Lopez has had a diverse, extensive career, which has ranged from her hit single “Jenny From The Block” to a judge position on World of Dance to a recent acting role in Hustlers. Each project she takes on, Lopez exhibits confidence, creativity, and authenticity, key factors in why she was chosen as the new global face of the company. “She’s determined and she’s an original who has followed her own path to do things her own way,” Stuart Vevers, Creative Director of Coach said in a release. “She really embodies the attitude of Coach and our new campaign." The creative team at Coach also admires that J.Lo was born and raised in the Bronx, as the brand was founded in New York 78 years ago. “She's from New York like Coach, which creates another authentic connection with our heritage,” Vevers explained. Lopez’s promotional photos for the collection were even taken at the New York City High Line, an elevated park on the west side where Coach also held their Spring-Summer 2020 runway show.

“Originals Go Their Own Way” highlights the company’s new bags for spring, including the Hutton, the Rambler, and the men’s Pacer Backpack and Belt Bag. Additionally, the line features a new ready-to-wear collection in leather, which includes a chic red coat that Lopez sported in several campaign images. “It is a timeless brand that I’ve always been a fan of and the upcoming collection really speaks to my personal style –– an uptown downtown mix,” Lopez reinforced in a statement.

With classic pieces guaranteed to become staple items in your wardrobe, “Originals Go Their Own Way” is headed straight to the A-list this season--just like the icon herself.
