Elle Coffman: The Designer Meets Entrepreneur Meets Blogger
Eighteen-year-old fashion influencer Elle Coffman truly does it all. On her journey towards fulfilling her dream of pursuing fashion in the Big Apple, she has become a Nordstrom Fashion Ambassador, a My Social Canvas Rep, and previously started a clothing line of her own called Elle Brand. The thought behind creating the clothing line was to provide beautiful and affordable pieces that are hand-selected by Coffman, with 10% of the proceeds going to a non-profit organization through My Social Canvas called Design the Life You Love. Although she recently ended the brand due to her impending move to NYC, I am always honored to call this teen entrepreneur one of my closest friends. She is always someone who I can turn to for stellar style advice or help evaluating my Instagram posts. In our interview below, you will get a peek into Coffman’s kind heart, chic sense of style, and strong sense of self.
When did you start your blog and why did you decide to start it?
I started my blog, Mademoiselle, three years ago after I was inspired by a blogger “Kayleigh’s Kloset” who I met in New York City. I had always wanted to start one but meeting her gave me the confidence and creative perspective to start it.
What message are you trying to convey to your blog’s subscribers?
I want my followers to be confident in their style! No matter what they wear or what the label says, they should purchase clothing that they love! What you wear can make you feel a certain way, so dressing confidently is so important. I also want to inspire my readers to design a life and career they love, so I advocate a company that does just that: My Social Canvas!
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is feminine, chic, and edgy. I love black and white with accents of color. I also love pairing basics with a trendy piece to elevate my outfit!
What a current style staple piece or trend you think everyone should embrace?
My current favorite style staple is a nice bag that can elevate every outfit. My favorite trendy piece is a fur jacket--they make every outfit chic and so warm!
What is your number one beauty product recommendation?
A moisturizer that’s perfect for your skin type! If your skin is too dry or too oily, you begin to get blemishes and your makeup will not apply properly. I recommend asking a specialist at your local skin care store.
What are your future plans for your blog?
I am moving to New York City soon to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology! When I get there, I plan on blogging more about my experience living there. I also want to interview men and women that inspire me so I can share their wisdom with my followers!
